Scoping Reviews
ENGAGED is conducting a series of scoping reviews to examine the state of the science of medical rehabilitation research on community-engaged research practices, access to medical rehabilitation services, and the impact of key social determinants of health.

Listening Sessions
ENGAGED will conduct listening sessions with people with disabilities and medical rehabilitation research stakeholders to document how social determinants of health impact functional performance and societal participation, the extent to which medical rehabilitation interventions addressed these, and supports and barriers to engagement in medical rehabilitation research.

Priority Setting
ENGAGED will prioritize ways to increase participation of people with disabilities in medical rehabilitation intervention research using the Concerns Report Method.
Disability Community Scientists
Disability Community Scientists is a non-degree certificate program developed at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) School of Public Health for members of the disability community who are interested in developing research careers, advancing their capabilities in evidence-based practice, and/or creating strategic partnerships to improve community health and disability and rehabilitation research and programming.

Community of Practice
The ENGAGED Community of Practice is a social learning community that provides members with an opportunity to connect other people doing community-engaged disability research.
A CoP brings together people who share a common interest and who interact regularly to build knowledge, share expertise, and improve practice and scholarship, with a focus on community-engaged research in partnership with people with disabilities. We aim to foster collaboration, innovation, and knowledge sharing through shared resources, storytelling, tools, and seminars. We anticipate that the CoP will meet every other month or quarterly, depending on participants’ shared interests and priorities. We plan to launch the CoP in the early fall semester (mid-August) and would like to begin organizing the group now to build interest, identify priorities, and prepare for a successful start.
